of Underhill Center
- I volunteered for the Obama campaign in New Hampshire for 3 weekends before the final week, and then I returned and worked for the last 4 days of the primary campaign!
- I performed every task asked of me during these 10-days of volunteering – with a smile and persuasive words!
- In New Hampshire: I canvassed homes by going door-to-door.
- I held signs at visibility events and at demonstrations.
- I wrote postcards.
- I worked the phones and made calls from the Obama campaign office.
- I entered data from canvass results into the campaign database and computers.
- I helped recruit and organize carpools to New Hampshire for primary volunteers from Vermont (and one from Boston)! I was also a chauffer! This effort resulted in numerous volunteers traveling from northwestern Vermont to New Hampshire. The volunteers were from the University of Vermont and from my local community. All of these volunteers also performed a variety of “Get-Out-The-Vote” activities as well.
- I was an Obama campaign volunteer in Vermont also! “Through snow, hail, sleet and rain” !!!!
- I spent many, many days traveling “door-to-door” performing canvassing activities and identifying potential volunteers in eastern Chittenden County.
- I posted signs, distributed literature and helped out in every way possible to assist in getting-out-the-vote for Barack Obama in Vermont!
- I participated in our local Vermont phone banking project and made countless phone calls to local voters.
- In the final days of the VT primary, I acted as the local coordinator for our Obama volunteer efforts.
- I spoke on a Quebecois T.V. station about Senator Obama and how new immigrants and new citizens are supporting him.
- I have supported my daughter who has been a paid staffer for Senator Obama since last September in New Hampshire, South Carolina, Maine, Maine, Pennsylvania, and now, Oregon.
- I have supported Senator Obama’s candidacy both financially and with impassioned and reasoned discussions with friends and acquaintances.
During the year 2003, I demonstrated against the war in Iraq from 7.15 to 8.00 a.m. along Hwy. #15 in Jericho, when the temperatures were way below freezing, and sadly many people driving-by were very rude and gave us various “negative reactions”.
- I have also: Volunteered with refugees and as a Eucharistic Minister at Fletcher Allen Hospital.
- I am a past member of the Underhill Conservation Commission.
- I am a current member of Pax Christi.
- I recently qualified as a Social Worker.
- I have been a teacher of English to International Students for 30 years in Vermont, Africa and Asia.
